Wisconsin Laws & Rules Update

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

All NEW Material for 2015-2017
There have been major changes to the Wisconsin Cosmetology Codebook during the last few years. We will share many of these changes with you and discuss how they affect practitioners, managers, owners, and establishments. We will also give you a heads up on some really interesting changes to the laws and rules that are currently being considered, and what to expect if they are put in to place. Additional important aspects of the code will also be reviewed, featuring common areas of confusion that we have seen throughout the state during our last tour. The class will wrap up with the extremely popular “Question and Answer Session with a Wisconsin Codebook Expert”.

Important note: you must select this Wisconsin Laws and Rules Update as one of your classes. You can select your remaining 3 hours of classes from the options listed below.

Inspections, Inspectors & Fines Oh My!

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

All NEW Material for 2015-2017
Did you know that salon inspections are being performed throughout Wisconsin? Why do certain salons and licensees get selected for an inspection? What happens during an inspection? What if I get a citation? How much is the fine for different violations? Is there any way I can prepare for an inspection? These questions and many more will be answered during this class. Humorous video clips are infused into the material to lighten the mood, and create a fun, entertaining format.

Cosmetology Kaleidoscope

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

All NEW Material for 2015-2017
You asked for it, so we created it! This class covers a variety of topics that we have received numerous requests for. Practical information that you can easily apply to the salon environment will be presented, including:

  • What do clients really think about sanitation in the salon? The HairDirections Lab Experiment captured candid client answers to this question through interviews, group talk-show-style sessions and surveys. Very interesting.
  • The implications of allowing a Wild Child to roam free in the salon can be grave. They can destroy property, get hurt, and ruin the tranquil environment that you have worked so hard to create. This segment provides simple methods to help manage a Wild Child without offending the parents.
  • Most of us will encounter head lice at some point in our career. We will give licensees tools to help identify and properly respond to the presence of head lice, including adhering to the law and what to do with the items and surrounding area that may have been exposed.
  • Cosmetology professionals aren’t used to sitting for long periods of time, and are always asking us for activities that allow them to move around. This segment will address common physical problems many people in our industry face through simple stretching exercises.

The HairDirections Game Show!!!

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

All NEW Material for 2015-2017
What is the most fun way to fulfill your CE requirements? Attending a Game Show!!! The HairDirections Game Show is a fun class where everyone gets to play along and compete for fabulous prizes. You will keep track of your own score as we go through a series of humorous, colorful, and informative questions. All new material, including visual questions!

The Gift Certificate: a safety and sanitation sitcom

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

This is an extremely popular class that we offered for the 2015 renewal and are again offering for the 2017 renewal.
This class is presented using a fun, entertaining format modeled after a TV sitcom that will have you laughing in your seat.  A series of short, humorous video clips of cosmetology establishments and operations will be shown that include common violations of the Wisconsin Code. After each video clip the violations will be discussed along with the proper procedures for correcting them. If you attended one of our events for the 2011 renewal, you will be happy to hear that Tacky Tina will make a brief cameo appearance!

Salon 911: how to stay cool when things get hot

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

This is an extremely popular class that we offered for the 2015 renewal and are again offering for the 2017 renewal.
Do you ever get that strange feeling that something isn’t right? Have you ever noticed all of the hot implements and highly flammable chemicals surrounding you at work? Are you allowed to burn a candle in your spa rooms, or is that a violation of the state code? The cosmetology industry puts us at an elevated risk for being exposed to a variety of hot scenarios. This class provides useful information for real situations that we may encounter in the salon addressing personal safety, emergencies, and fire safety. Short interviews with experts, including a Crime Prevention Officer, Deputy Fire Chief, and Nurses will be presented along with “what would you do scenarios”, and real world examples. Practical advice will be provided to help avoid a hot situation when possible, or stay cool if one occurs.

Salon Scavenger Hunt

Wisconsin CE Hours:  1CE logo no button
License types: Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, Cos Managers, and Electrologistslogists

This is great hands-on class that allows your salon or spa to rapidly identify and fix safety and sanitation issues. It will begin with the top violations found in Wisconsin salons followed by a review of safety and sanitation laws. Then everyone at your salon will have the opportunity to go and inspect their own stations, and other areas, “hunting” for things that need to be fixed based on what they just learned. The issues that everyone found will be discussed, including how to address them and prevent them from reoccurring. This is an extremely practical class that allows everyone to be involved, and create safety and sanitation compliance solutions as a team. Of course, this class is only available for groups that choose to hold their event at a salon.
