How
do I schedule a class at my salon?
The process is pretty simple. The first step is to contact us at
608-235-2622 or via email by
clicking here. After
that, we will answer any questions you may have and help you
schedule your class.
Will you really travel to my salon?
Yes, we will travel almost anywhere in IL and WI. You also get to select
the class date and time.
How far
in advance should I book my class?
We have had many groups book their class over a year in advance to
make sure they got the date they wanted. Others have booked
their class as little as two weeks ahead of time. The
earlier you book, the more choices of dates you will have.
If you are looking for a Sunday or Monday class, or a
particular time of year you should probably think about
booking your class far in advance.
Who will
teach my class?
Your class
will be led by Kristin Allison.
She is a fun, high energy, and experienced educator who
has established herself as one of the most dynamic
presenters in the business.
Kristin has provided advanced education for over 4000
people, owns several successful cosmetology businesses,
continues to work behind the chair, and is highly regarded
as an expert in many areas of the cosmetology
industry, including haircolor, salon business methods, and
more.
After someone attends one of her classes, we
commonly hear things like: “You made if fun!”,
"The
instructor Rocked! Great Class!”,
“We love her!”, “The best educator I have seen”, “The presentation
had great energy!”, “The educator was amazing!!!”,“ and
other similarly positive feedback. Learn

Will this class be accepted by the state of Illinois?
Yes,
attendees will receive the total number of CE hours in your
package, and these hours will count towards your CE license renewal
requirements. If you would like everyone in your
group to earn Illinois CE hours, you have to select classes
that are listed for the license types in your group. For
example, if your class will contain a combination of
Cosmetologists and Nail Techs, then you should select
classes that list these license types. These classes are
also available in Wisconsin for professional development.
HairDirections
is a registered and licensed Illinois CE Sponsor (license
No. 190.000509).

What are your in-salon classes like and what
is included?
HairDirections has broken the mold when it comes to CE! Our
classes are both entertaining and educational, and people
have a lot of fun at them. We will bring a screen,
laptop, projector, and sound system, and put on a
multi-media training event at your salon with animated
presentations,
short video clips, music, sound effects, colorful imagery,
demonstrations, activities and more. The classes are
presented by Kristin Allison using a fun approach, blending
humor, practical information, and various delivery modes to
keep things interesting. Please see “Who will teach
my class?” above for information about your educator.
In addition to CE hours, each
person also receives a Course Notes and Activities Guide,
and a Certificate of Completion.
What will be
covered during the class?
Customize your CE Event by choosing from 16 different
classes on a variety of topics such as haircolor, hair
design, salon business, retailing, client communications,
goal setting, team building, and more. Both look and
learn and hands on classes are available.
You can
find a list of classes and detailed descriptions
by clicking here and scrolling
down to the bottom of the page.
What kind of class packages are
available and how much do they
cost?
We offer both 4 and 7 CE hour packages. You can choose any
classes from our list which add up to the number of CE hours
in your package.
The more people you have in your class, the less expensive
it will be per person. Pricing information can be found on
the top right of this page. If you are interested in
something different than 4 or 7 hours total, please
contact us for
pricing.
Can we pool people from other salons/spas for our class?
Yes, many groups have done this in the past with great success,
where we have taught private in-salon classes with people
from 1 to over 10 different salons. Pooling people
from other salons is an efficient way to substantially
reduce the cost per person for your class.
How many
people can we have in our class?
You can have as many people as you like, as long as the location
where your class is held can accommodate everyone. HairDirections
has a suite of multi-media equipment and a staff to handle
any size class, and we have provided CE for groups ranging
from 1 to over 300 people.
Can we rent a conference room or other venue for you to hold
a class at?
Yes, many groups have done this because they thought it would be
fun or because they had more people than their salon could
hold. Groups have had their class at restaurants, libraries,
hotels, conference centers, resorts, and other places. If
you do decide to have your class at a location other than
your salon, it has to be appropriate for a CE class. For
example, you need a private room that is large enough for
everyone in your group. You can generally rent a room
for as little as $50 depending on the size of the room and
venue type. If you arrange catering with a hotel or
restaurant, it is also common for them to give you the room
for free or at a discounted rate. Renting a space for
your class is actually very easy. If you have questions
about how to do this, just give us a call and we would be
happy to help. Your group is responsible for all
conference room rental fees (if any).
Can we bring food and drinks to our class or have it
catered?
Yes, you are welcome to have lunch, snacks and drinks at your class
or have it catered. A popular option is to skip the
lunch break, and have everyone eat lunch during the class.
This will allow you to finish about an hour earlier. Some
groups have had a potluck style lunch, ordered pizzas,
arranged catering, or just had people bring their own lunch
individually. If you hold a class outside of your
salon, check with the venue to make sure you can bring in
your own food.
Can
our group consume alcohol during the class?
Yes, generally speaking, your group can consume alcohol during your
class. Groups have even held their class at a brewery or
created a bloody mary bar. If you do have alcohol at
your class, we ask that consumption be reasonable, people
remain orderly and respectful, and that no laws or
ordinances are broken. You also need to make sure that
it is allowed by your salon owner/manager and/or the venue
where your class will be held (if you decide to hold the
class outside of your salon).
Can I charge people more than HairDirections is charging for
the class?
This is a common question that we get if a group decides to rent a
venue, arrange catering, or incur other expenses that they
want to distribute amongst all attendees. Generally
speaking, we do not mind if you charge people more than what HairDirections is charging per person for a class. If
you do charge more, you must inform people how much
HairDirections is charging per person, and that there is an
additional charge on top of that.
What license types are these classes for and who can attend
them?
We have classes for several different license types,
including Cosmetologists, Estheticians & Nail Technicians.
If you would like everyone in your group to earn Illinois CE
hours, you have to select classes that are listed for the
license types in your group. For example, if your class will
contain a combination of Cosmetologists and Nail Techs, then
you should select classes that list these license types. You are welcome to invite whomever you wish to your class,
including pooling people from other establishments, as long
as the location where your class is held can hold everyone.
The total class cost
depends
on the number of people in your class (pricing information
can be found on the top right of this page).
Why do you charge so little for these classes? What’s the catch?
Because our rates are so low, people actually ask us this question!
These classes are a lot of fun for both our educators and
the attendees, so we have priced them at one of the most
competitive rates in the entire state of Illinois and
Wisconsin for live
CE training. Simply put, we enjoy teaching these classes for
you.
What is a
Trip Charge?
Depending on the location of your class, a Trip Charge may be added
to the package cost to help us offset travel expenses. These
charges (if any) are extremely reasonable, and are built in
to the cost per student up front before you schedule your
class (there are no hidden
charges).
