Selecting Your Classes

• We offer both 4 and 7 CE hour packages. You can choose any classes from the list below which add up to the number of CE hours in your package.  If you are interested in something different than 4 or 7 hours total, please contact us for pricing.

• Bonus online class (limited time offer): if you schedule an in-salon class with us, everyone in your group will have the option to receive an additional 7 IL CE hours by taking our online class for only $20. This is a savings of 60% off our regular price (online class for Cosmetologists only)

• If you would like everyone in your group to earn Illinois CE hours, you have to select classes that are listed for the license types in your group. For example, if your class will contain a combination of Cosmetologists and Nail Techs, then you should select classes that list these license types. These classes are also available in Wisconsin for professional development.

Color Geek is our most popular class.  People seem to love it and are shocked at the amount of useful information that can be packed into 3 hours.  Color Geek was developed and is presented by haircolor expert Kristin Allison. Topics that will be covered include: Universal Color Law; Hair Color Foundations; Types of Haircolor; American Shades of Lift and European Level Systems; Liquid and Crème Developers; Haircolor Challenges (including Brassiness, Fading, Hot Roots, Grey Coverage, Color Balancing, Brown-Outs, Fillers, High-lift and Double Process Blondes, and Color Removers); Color Formulation and more.  Learn, grow, earn!

Equipment and supplies: we request that you have a swatchbook for the color line used at your salon that everyone can share.  If your salon does not have a swatchbook, we recommend that you get one before the class, however, this is not required.

Color Geek: explore your haircolor genius (4 hour version, hands-on)

Color Geek: explore your haircolor genius. Combine the art & science of advanced haircolor methods to expand your color skills, enhance your color art, and increase your color business.

This first part of this class includes everything listed above under “Color Geek (3 hour version)” where attendees will receive advanced haircolor education through presentations, demonstrations, and activities. In the second part of this class, put your haircolor genius to work by performing a full head color or color retouch on a live model. Due to time constraints, the hands-on portion of this class does not include corrective color, foils, double processing, or color removers. This course was developed and is presented by haircolor expert Kristin Allison.

Equipment and supplies: Your salon must supply live models, and haircolor supplies and implements for the hands on portion of this class.  Attendees can work together on the live models and/or use each other as the live models if desired. We also request that you have a swatchbook for the color line used at your salon that everyone can share. If your salon does not have a swatchbook, we recommend that you get one before the class, however, this is not required.

The first half of this class includes everything listed above under “Fashion Forecasting (2 hour version)” where attendees will learn the essential fundamentals of this technique through presentations, demonstrations, and activities.

The second half of this class includes 2 hours of hands-on education where you will have the opportunity to create a new Fashion Forecasting hair design on a live model.  The hands on portion of this class can include hair cutting, coloring, and/or styling.

Equipment & supplies: Your salon must supply fashion magazines and live models for the hands on portion of this class. Attendees can work together on the live models and/or use each other as the live models if desired.  Alternatively, your salon can supply mannequin heads and stands. Attendees also need to supply their own hair design tools such as combs, brushes, haircolor supplies and equipment, shears, blow dryers, etc.

Rock Your Reality: how to get what you want

This hands-on class will help your salon identify and fix potential cosmetology safety, sanitation, and code violations, as well as improve the experience that customers have at your establishment.  Key Illinois rules will be presented using a series of presentations and humorous video clips. Then everyone at your salon will have the opportunity to inspect their own stations, and other areas, “hunting” for things that need to be changed based on what they just learned. The issues that everyone found will be discussed, including how to address them and prevent them from reoccurring.  This is an extremely practical class that allows everyone to be involved, and create compliance solutions as a team.  Time will also be devoted to analyzing and enhancing the customers’ experience at your salon.
