Salon
Scavenger
Hunt |
Salon Scavenger Hunt
Continuing education hours: 1
This is great hands-on class that allows your salon
(or spa) to rapidly identify and fix safety and sanitation
issues. It will begin with an overview of safety and
sanitation laws, followed by a discussion of the top
violations found in Wisconsin salons. Then everyone at your
salon will have the opportunity to go and inspect their own
stations, and other areas, “hunting” for things that need to be
fixed based on what they just learned. The issues that
everyone found will be discussed, including how to address
them and prevent them from reoccurring. This is an
extremely practical class that allows everyone to be
involved, and create safety and sanitation solutions as a
team. For obvious reasons, this class is only
available for in-salon training. |

What's Wrong With This Picture?
Continuing education hours: 1
Are you the
type of person who learns by “doing”? If so, this is the
class for you. The instructor will first present
information on a given safety and sanitation topic. Next, a
series of videos and photos will be shown where there is a
safety or sanitation problem illustrated in each one related
to the material that was just presented. Then the class
will work together to identify “What’s wrong with this
picture?”. Several topics will be presented using this
method. This is a highly interactive class that was
structured to be fun, and allow people to immediately use
what they have just learned. |

Checklists, Inspections, and Change, Oh
My!
a simplified approach to sanitation for
salons and spas
Continuing education hours: 1
Everyone knows that the best part of working in the
cosmetology industry is performing safety and sanitation
tasks. Yeah right! We can’t magically make these tasks
disappear, but we can present you with a simplified approach
to sanitation for salons and spas. Methods for streamlining
sanitation tasks will be taught that save time, convey clear
expectations, mitigate misunderstandings, have the potential
to increase revenue, and foster a culture of sanitation
compliance. A fun, entertaining game will also be played to
help visually identify sanitation issues. This class is
geared towards owners and managers that desire a simpler,
more effective approach to sanitation within their
establishments. |

Strategies for Owners and Managers: planning, organizing and

Health, Safety, and Sanitation
Strategies for Owners and Managers: planning, organizing and
implementing compliance in your salon or spa
Continuing education hours: 1
The objective of this class is to help you, as managers and
owners, develop and implement an effective health,
safety, sanitation and infection control plan of action
through: (1) Understanding the importance of health, safety,
sanitation, and infection control in their establishment;
(2) Working with and applying the Wisconsin Administrative
Code; (3) Equipping their establishment with the necessary
resources; (4) Developing written health, safety,
sanitation, and infection control procedures; (5)Training
and motivating their staff to comply with the Administrative
Code; and (6) Tracking performance and addressing areas of
non-compliance. Understanding the technical aspects of the
Administrative Code is only half of the battle for owners
and managers. They must also have the skills and resources
to ensure that the code is uniformly and consistently
implemented within their establishment. This class addresses
this critically important aspect of compliance management.
This is a “must-attend” class for all owners and managers. |
